Leopards Are Eating His Face: MAGA Trucker Regrets Trump Vote—But Only Because It Hit His Wallet
Another "fiscal" Trump voter ignores the racism, chaos, crimes, and coup for a con man's false promises about a "great" economy he wrecked the first time
Anyone else tired of the “fiscal” Republicans voting for an outright fascist on the fiction that they’re doing it for the money?
Craig Fuller, the MAGA trucker who became internet-famous on the Leopards Ate My Face subreddit, is now experiencing a very familiar Republican regret: He didn’t care about the cruelty, the chaos, or the fascism—until it hurt him personally.
Fuller, who runs the trucking industry newsletter FreightWaves, recently took to Elon Musk’s Nazi/Russian Bot-infested social media platform to express his dismay that Donald Trump’s proposed economic policies—specifically his ill-considered tariffs—would devastate supply chains and small businesses.
"I enthusiastically supported Trump's victory in the November election. I thought I was voting for pro-business policies and small, targeted, and incremental tariffs that would encourage the production of strategic industries to return to the Americas. I.e., what we got in the first Administration.
I did not vote for a neutron bomb to wipe out supply chains and small businesses 100 days in."
But here’s the thing, Craig: You absolutely did vote for a “neutron bomb”—one that not only devastates supply chains, but also harms the targeted minority group du jour, sick, the vulnerable, the politically unconnected,he poor, the working class, and anyone who ever fought, bled, and died for the grand experiment in liberal democracy.
You just didn’t care about anyone but yourself, much less America, and thought you were going to escape the devastation.
It’s another day in an MAGAtville where greed and selfishness have usurped the “spirit of 1776.” Forget pledging “our lives, fortunes and sacred honor to each other.” In Trumpland, selfishness and greed are the only things that matter.
It’s like Germans in the 1930s turning a blind eye to their neighbors disappearing in the night because they like the autobahn.
Today’s regretful Trump voters claim they backed him for his amazing business savvy, but that’s where their self-delusion meets reality and their excuse falls apart. When you look at the actual record— not just his personal record of bankruptcies and history tax cheating—it turns out, “great at business” just means “great” at looking out for himself and his billionaire pals.
Though, Hitler actually did build the autobahn—well, he took over an existing project, slapped his name on it, and turned it into a propaganda tool, but at least thousands of miles of highway got paved under his regime. Trump, on the other hand, built his brand on being “pro-business,” but the reality is a flaming pile of bankrupt casinos (losing more jobs and money than every other Atlantic City competitor), failed mail-order meat, failed airline, scam universities, and a tax record that reads like a how-to guide for being a parasite.
Trump is Failure in Business—Both Personally AND as the “Businessman” President
Trump’s cult and lickspittle enablers argue that even if their god/king was an utter failure in his personal businesses and petty grifts, it was during his so-called presidency during which his business genius truly excelled. Sorry, MAGAts. Here in reality, Donald Jesus Trump had a horrible economic record as president too, especially for working people.
This is why it drives me crazy when people claim they vote Republican for some “fiscal” BS excuse. Apparently, it’s easier to tell yourself you’re savvy in “business” than to admit you just can’t handle living in a free, modern, multiracial democracy. Self-delusion is always more comfortable than self-reflection.
Let’s break it down:
The Myth of Trump’s “Pro-Business” Policies
Fuller claims he voted for Trump because of his supposed “pro-business” agenda.
But “pro-business” in MAGAtville doesn’t mean prosperity for small businesses or workers. It means corporate welfare, deregulated looting, and allowing the wealthy to plunder the economy with impunity—free from the burden of having to the price of admission to a civilized society (AKA: taxes).
Corporate Tax Cuts & Worker Neglect—The so-called “2017 Tax Cuts & Jobs Act - slashed corporate taxes from 35% to 21%, exploding the deficit while doing nothing to boost wages or investment in American workers. Instead, corporations used the windfall for stock buybacks—enriching shareholders while leaving workers behind.
No real economic benefit— A Congressional Research Service study found little measurable benefit to the broader U.S. economy from the 2017 tax cuts.
Factory closures and offshoring— factories closed under Trump than opened. Despite his promises, over 1,800 factories shut down between 2016 and 2018, and 200,000 jobs were offshored during his term. Growth in manufacturing states like Ohio plummeted as a direct result of Trump’s tariff policies. Small businesses were especially hit by Trump’s tariffs.
Trade war failures—In his first maladministration, Trump’s trade wars didn’t bring back manufacturing—they cost American farmers and businesses billions in lost exports due to retaliatory tariffs.
Farmers devastated by ridiculous tariffs— Trump’s trade wars, especially with China, devastated U.S. farmers by triggering retaliatory tariffs that slashed U.S. agricultural exports—soybean exports to China fell by 77%, costing billions in lost revenue, higher costs, squeezing already struggling farmers and forcing taxpayers to cover some of the losses through subsidies.
The “forgotten man and woman” forgotten some more—Despite campaign promises, more than 200,000 American jobs were offshored during the con man’s presidency. Many of the top recipients of federal contracts were companies that offshored jobs.
Here we go again as the “businessman” president inflicts even more ridiculous policies on us, tanking the world economy in less than 100 days. Happy days are here again! Or not? Economists warn that Trump’s tariffs will have cascading negative effects leading to higher consumer prices, rising inflation, business failures, and job losses. Small businesses and working families will be hit the hardest, of course.
Ah, The Actual “Good Old Days” Under Biden:
775,000+ manufacturing jobs added—surpassing pre-pandemic levels and far surpassing job creation under Trump, who saw a net loss of over 200,000 manufacturing jobs during his term—even before the pandemic hit.
Factory construction doubled, thanks to the CHIPS Act and Inflation Reduction Act - reversing decades of industrial decline and revitalizing communities nationwide.
Real investment in American supply chains for the first time in decades.
Biden’s policies catalyzed nearly $450 billion in private manufacturing investments, especially in semiconductors and electronics, boosting domestic supply chains and national security.
Thanks to Biden and the Inflation Reduction Act, America was in the middle of a full-blown manufacturing renaissance when just 31% of the voting population chose to hand the presidency back to a convicted felon—someone who ran for office again to escape accountability for a lifetime of crime and who previously left office with the worst jobs record since Herbert Hoover.
272 new clean energy projects in 44 states—small towns, big cities, red, blue, and everything in between—over 170,000 new jobs, and a surge in industries like batteries, wind, solar, and electric vehicles.
Supply chains were strengthened and modernized, shipping costs slashed by 70%, port backlogs cleared, and inflation for everyday people finally easing.
The CHIPS Act put America back on the map for semiconductors, with all five of the world’s most advanced chipmakers setting up shop here, creating another 125,000 good jobs.
Community colleges—80 of them across 22 states—were training the next generation for real, living-wage careers, not just gig work and empty promises.
Trump, Musk, Thiel, Republicans and Project 2025 — Why We Can’t Have Nice Things
As we watch Republicans roll back progress, it makes me want to weep. The reality is, Republicans never truly valued democracy, freedom, or shared prosperity in the first place—but they couldn’t have gotten this far without the help of those who vote for them based on flimsy, so-called “fiscal” excuses that have no basis in reality.
Projections had us on track for 300,000 new manufacturing jobs a year, every year, until at least 2032. Now, we’re watching Americans lose their jobs, lifelines and services they counted on.
All the convicted felon con man Republican standard-bearer had to do was leave the economy alone. But Trump and his billionaire ghouls—Elon, Thiel, the whole Project 2025 crew—are torching it all. They’re destroying the very foundation of America’s manufacturing and clean energy resurgence, all so they can keep workers begging at the feet of their oligarchic, late-stage capitalist circus clowns.
That’s the plan: smash what works, reward their cronies, and leave the rest of us fighting for scraps. This is what happens when you put a malignant narcissist in charge—he doesn’t just break things, he revels in the wreckage.
But Fuller and the “fiscal” Republican voters didn’t care about the facts. He bought the lie that Trump was “good for business”—even though reality proved otherwise.
The MAGA Mindset: “I Didn’t Care Until It Hurt Me”
The most infuriating part of Fuller’s lament isn’t that he’s wrong—it’s that he still doesn’t get it.
He didn’t care when Trump:
Called Mexicans “rapists.”
Sent a mob to attack cops and urinate and defecate in the halls of the Capitol.
Promised to be a “dictator on Day One.”
Surrounded himself with the people who wrote Project 2025—a blueprint for dismantling democracy.
He didn’t care about the thousands of federal workers whose jobs are being cut by sociopaths who hate democracy and are just trying to destroy the government the founders fought a revolution to create so they can restore themselves in the permanent oligarchy. He didn’t care about scientific research being gutted, or climate denialism putting us all at risk.
He only cares now—because his wallet is getting lighter.
The MAGA Response: “Gird Your Loins” in Silence
When Fuller voiced his concerns, a fellow MAGAt cultist replied:
“Survival of the fittest. Trump is playing the long-term game; it’s all of our jobs to survive in the meantime. Man up and gird your loins.”
What do you want to bet that “gird your loins” Jennifer is currently not feeling any strain from her god/king’s ridiculous trade war at the moment?
This is the essence of modern conservatism, as aptly put by John Kenneth Galbraith so many years ago:
The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.”
It’s why so many of us are exhausted by the spectacle of conservatives only “seeing the light” when the leopards start nibbling on their ears. Until then, their remedy is “bootstraps” and “girded loins”.
Please, stop telling us—and yourselves—that you’re motivated by “fiscal responsibility” or “economic success.” The reality is clear: every recent Republican administration has left the country with greater inequality, higher deficits, and economic crises that hit working people the hardest, while the few at the top feast on the body politic like parasites.
Then, Democrats are left to clean up the mess, stabilize the economy, and attempt to restore basic fairness—only for the cycle to repeat itself when the next wave of “pro-business” conservatives return to power on the back of lies.
The math is irrefutable. Democrats are better for the economy. That is, if one actually works for a living. Under Democratic administrations, economic growth is faster, job creation is stronger, and income gains are more broadly shared, especially among those at the bottom and middle of the income ladder.
Under Republicans, the benefits flow disproportionately to the wealthy, inequality widens, and the middle class (now less than 50% of the population) sinks lower down the ladder.
No matter how many times Craig Fuller, or any other Trump voter asserts it, if you cast a vote for the convicted felon because of all the amazing things he did for the economy, you are either a liar, a dupe or making excuses for the fact that you voted for a fascist.
The Lesson Trump Voters Like Craig Fuller Still Have Not Learned
Craig Fuller is the perfect example of the fair-weather fascist—the kind of Republican who claims they “don’t like the racism” but votes for it anyway because they’re kidding themselves they’ll get a tax cut.
Here in the reality of Republican fascist America, if you’re not in the top tax bracket, you can count on a few things. The rich will exploit you. Their corporations will discard you and the moment the oligarchs deem your life “unuseful”, you’ll be discarded while an unelected South African sociopath parasite with $50 billion of our taxpayer dollars in his pocket gleefully dances on your suffering, as he swings a chainsaw above his head.
My only questions are, will the MAGAt voters ever stop lying to themselves—and how much longer are we going to take it, people? How much longer?
